Mutual fund overlap: which of your funds move alike
Owning five funds isn't the same as owning five different things. The Journal shows how closely each pair of your funds has moved over the last year, and how your money is split between them.
How similarity is measured
For each pair of funds you hold, the journal compares their daily NAV moves over the last 12 months (correlation). Most equity funds score 85–95%; 95% or more means two funds moved almost identically.
It's a measure of how the funds behaved, not a list of the stocks they hold, and it isn't a suggestion to change anything.
What you see
- Fund allocation: each fund's current value as a share of your portfolio, at AMFI's latest NAV.
- Most similar pair, with its similarity percentage (free plan).

Common questions
Is this the same as stock-level portfolio overlap?
No. Stock-level overlap compares the stocks two funds hold on a given date. This compares how their NAVs actually moved over 12 months, which reflects holdings, style and timing together.
Why do most equity funds look similar?
Most Indian equity funds hold many of the same large companies, so their daily moves are closely linked. Scores of 85–95% are normal.
